What’s the Shakeology Cleanse All About?

Shakeology Cleanse

The Shakeology program is a big trend in fitness and health. Now, they’ve also got the Shakeology Cleanse to help people shakeology cleanseget their bodies flushed of toxins quick. But what are Shakeology and the Shakeology Cleanse? What does it do? How does it work? Can I eat? All of these and more are answered within.

What is the Shakeology Cleanse?

The Shakeology plan consists of proprietary powders with specific overall flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, greenberry, and cafe latte. Each powder has a base set of ingredients. The Shakeology Cleanse is a specific plan within the overall Shakeology program.

The Shakeology Cleanse is designed as a 3-day program. However, unlike some other cleanse programs, the Shakeology Cleanse also allows daily intake of fruits and veg, and certain lean proteins. Someone can have 800-1100 calories each of the three days outside of the Shakeology Cleanse shakes themselves.

Another point where the Shakeology Cleanse diverges from other programs is that it is made to work in conjunction with a fitness regime, specifically, Beachbody workouts as they are the producer of Shakeology.

The goal of the Shakeology Cleanse is to remove toxins from the body. That includes all the bad byproducts of things like soda, preservatives, alcohol, fat and food additives. It combines its shakes with other things like water, green tea, salads and other non-processed foods. While on the Shakeology Cleanse one should not consume added sugars, breads, dairy, starchy-foods like corn, potatoes, rice and the like.

What’s in the Shakeology Cleanse Powders?

There are several proprietary blends of ingredients in the Shakeology shakes. Here’s a quick breakdown of each category.

Shakeology Cleanse shakes include these herbs that are purported to have stress adaptation traits. That is, they help the body respond to stress and get back to normal faster. Shakeology Ingredients in this category include:

  • Ashwagandha – Found in India, China, Nepal, and Yemen. Also called Indian Ginseng or winter cherry.
  • Astragalus – There are thousands of specific herds in this group commonly called milkvetch
  • Cordyceps – Found in China and Tibet and includes hundreds of species of a sac fungus.
  • Ginko – A Chinese seed fern, commonly called Ginkgo Biloba in health applications.
  • Maca – Peruvian medicinal herb also used as a root vegetable in cuisine.
  • Maitake – A Japanese and American mushroom commonly called Hen of the Woods.
  • Reishi – An Asian mushroom used for centuries in natural medicine.
  • Schisandra – This is a fruit from an Asian and North American flowering vine.
  • Tulsi – Used in herbal medicine in India for centuries as well as essential oils, and tea. Another name for Holy Basil.

Antioxidantsshakeology 3 day cleanse

Shakeology Cleanse antioxidant ingredients help remove damaging oxidization radicals in the body. This blend includes a lot of what are called super fruits. Oxidizing agents in the body are damaging to the liver, and cells by depriving the body of free oxygen that is used for various functions of the body.

Ingredients in this blend include acai (a palm tree berry), acerola cherry (grown in Barbados), bilberry (similar to blueberries), camu-camu (a South American fruit), goji (Wolfberry), grape seed, green tea, luo han guo (a natural sweetener from east Asia), pomegranate (purported to be an anti-aging agent), rose hips (fruit of the rose bush).

Digestive Enzymes

Enzymes are molecules that help digest particular things, like lactose, etc. These help break down things that people may have problems with which is why they are included in the Shakeology Cleanse shakes. For example, lactase is the bacteria that breaks down lactose, milk sugar. When people don’t have it in abundance in their gut, they are considered lactose intolerant.

Other included enzymes are amylase (convert starch to sugar), cellulase (eats cellulose), lactase (eats milk sugar), lipase (uses water to break down fat), papain (helps amino acid usage), protease (helps digestion of protein).

Pre and Probiotics

The reason that the Shakeology Cleanse includes these is because they help your body take up nutrients and digest better. They contain a variety of proteins from fruits, bacteria, and plant roots. Their ingredient list includes bromelain (a pineapple-derived protein), lactobacillus (bacteria that breaks down milk sugar), sporogenes (helps reduce cholesterol), yacon root (a plant root that supposedly helps with diabetes).

Super Proteins Supply Vitamins & Minerals

These are all the things that provide vitamins and minerals that the human body needs in small quantities to continue working properly. Shakeology Cleanse blends are stacked high with these things including amaranth (grain), brown rice, chia (seed), flax (linseed), pea, quinoa, sachi inchi (Incan Peanut oil), and whey.

How Does the Shakeology Cleanse Help?

Everything in the powders is aimed at making the body work better, take up nutrients faster, eliminating the cravings for empty calories (junk food), and flushing all the toxins out of the body. The results of this manifest themselves as things like:

  • Weight loss
  • Muscle gain
  • Better blood sugar levels
  • Healthier skin, nails, and hair
  • Increased energy

Each main category of ingredients in Shakeology Cleanse shakes is aimed at a specific effect on the body as outlined above. Each of these particular benefits above will, of course, vary by user. Plus, one must also lead a more active lifestyle to ensure better health and a stronger cardiovascular system.

Does the Shakeology Cleanse Have any Side Effects?

There are potential negative side effects from the Shakeology Cleanse as well. Since users are replacing standard meals with these shakes their bodies might experience a bit of shock. Reported negative side effects of the Shakeology Cleanse include stomach and abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Others have also reported a bloated feeling or more frequent headaches. Since everyone processes food differently and everyone has a different lifestyle in terms of activity, health, and diet, one may never experience any of these negative side effects.

Shakeology Cleanse Frequency?

Beachbody suggests that people do the Shakeology Cleanse every three or four months. Think of it like changing the oil in your car. You need to flush out all the bad stuff that you’ve accumulated over the last several months. That’s basically how the Shakeology Cleanse works. Take three days every several months and your body will continue to run well for a longer time. Many believe that some of the toxins that are not flushed increase things like aging and weight gain. So to be younger and thinner longer, get rid of them regularly.

Shakeology Cleanse

Been putting on some extra weight lately? If you have, then maybe you’ve heard about the Shakeology cleanse. I personally haven’t tried it, since it is designed to help with weight loss and I don’t need that right now. But once my winter bulk is finished this should be the perfect trick to help start my summer shredding!

Shakeology Cleanse – The Scienceshakeology cleanse

This cleanse was designed to be done along with a workout program, meaning it is more of a performance cleanse than a traditional cleanse.

This is not a traditional cleanse, this is a very low calorie, vitamin and mineral rich weight loss program. Traditional cleanses don’t have hardly any nutrients in them, along with the very low calories. If you compare the Shakeology cleanse with any other well known cleansing program, then you would understand that you are getting a lot more nutrition from the Shakeology one.

Traditional cleanses are meant to purify your digestive system, and bring your body back to it’s homeostatic state. This can sometimes take a long time, which could make some people uncomfortable.

However, this cleanse is not like other cleanses. You can do it several ways, but depending on how you choose to do it, will determine how many calories you’ll be eating on a daily basis. I would say you’ll be eating anywhere from 800-1400 calories each day. The whole idea of this cleanse is not to starve yourself, but to maximize nutrient efficiency. The whole idea is to consume the most nutrients as possible, while eating the least amount of calories possible. By doing this, you’ll help rid your body of toxins, and it will help you “reset” your body.

How Does it Work?

So you’re eating schedule doesn’t change during this cleanse. If you eat 4 meals a day, you’ll continue to do so, or however many meals you eat. You won’t be eating anywhere near the same volume as you normally would. But you’ll still be getting all the essential vitamins and nutrients. This should help you feel energized and ready to complete your day.

It’s recommended that you only eat Shakeology during the cleanse. But, if you feel the need to eat solid food, try to keep it to fruits, something with fiber, or even add in a salad.

The goal of this cleanse is to maximize your daily performance, while gaining the benefits of doing a cleanse. You don’t want to starve yourself, but you want to restrict calories enough to lose weight, and consume enough nutrients.

Steps to Take During the Cleanse

Drink lots of water during the cleanse. You should be doing this on any cleanse, not just this one. It’s important to stay hydrated, and also drinking lots of water can help to curve hunger, as I’ve come to realize.

Don’t drink any sort of sugary drinks. This goes for soda, juice, and yes, even alcohol. Try to keep caffeinated drinks to a minimum, as they are diuretics, and will dehydrate you.

Shakeology Price? Why is Shakeology Expensive?

Shakeology Price

Many of you I’m sure have asked yourselves this question many times when making the decision of whether to buy Shakeology or not. I completely understand why you’re asking yourself that question, I asked myself that question too. In this post we’ll be discussing the Shakeology price, and why it might not be as expensive as you may think.

Shakeology is available in two separate ways, you can order packets, or you can order in a bulk bag. A bag of Shakeology is going to cost roughly $130.00. The bag contains 30 servings, one for each day of the month. If you get the packets, you’ll only be getting 24 servings. So you get an extra 6 servings by ordering the bag. This comes out to roughly $4.35 per serving, which is very cheap when comparing it with a regular meal.

Check out this cool little video to help you understand why Shakeology isn’t so expensive after all:

As you can see in the video, buying all the ingredients in Shakeology separately is extremely expensive. Which is why it makes much more sense to buy Shakeology. Another point I’d like to make, is that I’m willing to say that most of you reading this, eat out at least 4 times a week. Whether it be you go out to lunch, get dinner with the family, or you just want a snack from the store. We’ll say the average cost of you eating out is $15.00. If you eat out 4x a week, every month, that means you’re spending $240.00+ every month eating out. If you replace those meals with Shakeology, you’d save yourself $110.00 every month. Shakeology doesn’t seem so expensive when you think about it like that does it?

Are there Discounts Available?

Yes, there is a way for you to get a discount off the Shakeology price. If you sign up as a Beachbody coach, you will get a 25% discount on any Beachbody products, which includes workouts and supplements. That means a bag of Shakeology would cost $97.47 if you were a Beachbody coach. Now, there is a $40.00 fee to signing up as a coach, but with a 25% discount on Shakeology ($32.50), you’ll nearly pay for the coaching fee by just buying one bag. So, if you’re planning on using Shakeology for a long time, I recommend putting up the $40.00 to become a shakeology pricecoach, and start collecting that 25% discount. It will save you a lot of money.

You can also get 10% off any of Beachbody’s products as a club member. A club membership includes the 10% discount on all products, Beachbody on Demand, and specialized meal plans. Being a club member is free for the first 30 days, and then costs $2.99 every month thereafter.

I Can get Shakeology on Amazon?

I would not recommend this. Getting Shakeology from Beachbody guarantee’s its authenticity, whereas purchasing from a third party can lead to scams. It’s very easy for people to reseal a bag once it’s been opened, which means they can tamper with it in countless ways.

Shakeology is a supplement, you ingest it into your body. I will pay the extra few dollars to guarantee that I am getting what I’m paying for.

To wrap this all up, and answer the question of whether or not Shakeology is worth it for the price, my answer to that question is yes. You’ve seen my reasoning for this answer above, now it’s time to make the decision for yourself. Click on the link if you think you’re ready to buy Shakeology. What are the Shakeology Ingredients?

What’s in Shakeology?

I hear this question come up quite a bit. People want to know what exactly is in Shakeology. What are the Shakeology ingredients?

Beachbody, the creators of Shakeology, make all kinds of different health related products. Beachbody created P90x, Insanity, Focus T25, and much more. All this being said, means they have some kind of idea of what they are doing.

Shakeology is their premium weight loss shake. And I do mean premium, just look at the price.

Shakeology Nutrition Facts

Before we get too far into this, it is worth noting that each flavor has slightly different nutritional information. So keep that in mind. However, the core ingredients remain the same throughout all the flavor variations.

Shakeology is full of vitamins and minerals. It contains several essential vitamins, minerals, and foods that are referred to as “superfoods”, such as wheat grass.

A serving of Shakeology is between 150-190 calories, depending on the flavor, and will contain roughly 17 grams of protein. Each serving also only contains about 5 grams of sugar, and 5 grams of fiber.

People claim that the blend of ingredients will increase energy levels, improve digestion, and increase absorption of vitamins and minerals.

Here is a quick video of all the ingredients in Shakeology.

Does Shakeology Work?

The truthful answer is, yes. Simply using Shakeology will help you be healthier, and could potentially help you lose weight. However, in order to get the best results, use the product as it is intended to be used. If you are using Shakeology, but you go and eat two bowls of ice cream, then you shouldn’t be surprised when you don’t losing weight. This is really common sense stuff. To lose weight you need to make sacrifices, and cutting out those extra donuts is exactly the thing that you need to do.

I’ll leave a picture of Shakeology’s nutrition label below so you can see what’s in Shakeology.

My Shakeology Review – What You Need to Know

If you’ve landed on this page, then you are here looking for a Shakeology review. Here is my personal, unbiased review on Shakeology.

This post is not going to try to convince you to buy Shakeology, that’s not my goal here. My goal is to provide you with the best information possible, to help you make an informed decision.

My Shakeology Reviewshakeology review

Being a “gym rat” I’m always looking for ways to improve my health, and my results. This is where I started doing some research, and I had already been doing some Beachbody workouts, such as Focus T25, and P90x. So I had heard about Shakeology before. However, I wasn’t convinced of it’s effectiveness. So, I looked around on the internet, read some Shakeology reviews, and decided to try it out for myself. I’ll discuss my results, and my personal opinion on the product in the following post.

What Does Shakeology Have to Offer?

Let’s just get one thing straight right from the beginning. If you’re looking for that “magic” product that will solve all your health problems at once, then this isn’t the product you’re looking for. This is not a product that is going to fix all your problems.

This is however, a healthy meal replacement that can help you live a healthier lifestyle, and potentially solve health related issues.

Shakeology is primarily a meal replacement, which as you could probably guess, means that it is designed to take the place of a traditional meal. A couple benefits to using Shakeology as opposed to a regular meal is, it has less calories (150 calories/serving), it takes less time to prepare (2-3 minutes), and it is very nutritious.

Shakeology is a great detox, which helps you feel more energetic, and awake. It also helps your body in absorbing nutrients, which makes sense since Shakeology contains tons of nutrients.

Shakeology helps with weight loss. Shakeology is promoted with helping people to lose weight. This also makes sense, since each serving contains only 150 calories. As opposed to a regular meal, which could have anywhere from 500 – 1000.

The part that most surprised me about Shakeology, is that it is advertised to help eliminate food cravings. This really surprised me, but after trying the product I must admit that I did notice less of an urge to eat sugary foods, such as ice cream, and donuts (a personal favorite of mine).

Shakeology Ingredientsshakeology ingredientsshakeology ingredientsshakeology ingredients

It’s important that I mention the Shakeology ingredients in this Shakeology review. After all, what good would the product be without the ingredients?

Here’s a brief synopsis of what’s in Shakeology:

  1. Whey protein isolate (the most easily absorbed protein)
  2. phytonutrients (which includes polyphenols, anthocyanins, catchins, and flavenoids)
  3. Prebiotics
  4. Digestive enzymes
  5. 23 different vitamins and minerals

This is obviously very brief, and not descriptive whatsoever, but if you want to know more about the Shakeology ingredients, then go check out my full review by clicking here.

Shakeology Price

This is by far the biggest obstacle I had when deciding whether or not to buy Shakeology. The price tag looks pretty steep to most people (myself included), until I started thinking about it differently.

Shakeology is actually a very reasonably priced product. Now why would I say that? It is pretty simple. If you do the math, add up all the times that you eat out during the month, or how much you spend at the vending machine for a snack, and then think about how much you are spending on Shakeology. I’m willing to bet that you spend more money on eating out than you would on a bag of Shakeology.

You are spending more on junk food every month than you would on Shakeology. Instead of eating unhealthy junk food, it would make more sense to eat something full of vitamins and minerals correct?

I hope you enjoyed this Shakeology review. If you’re really thinking about trying Shakeology, I recommend looking around my site and doing some more research. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment below, and I’ll answer as soon as I can.
